Katrina is a naturopathic doctor, clinical herbalist, published iridologist, lecturer and author who has a intuitive understanding of the human body and psyche. She has trained in many healing modalities, with her vast clinical experience, allowing her to easily locate the origin of a health imbalance and specifically choose the right protocols to help restore balance.
Twenty years ago, Katrina was diagnosed with a very aggressive and malignant form of ovarian cancer, after working for the deputy prime minister of Thailand in his prestigious health retreat, Chiva-Som. She drew on her experience as a naturopathic doctor and instead of choosing chemotherapy as her sole form of treatment, she chose to incorporate natural therapies to improve her chance of survival.
Using all of her courage and knowledge as a natural healer, she employed the help of nature’s foods, herbs, medicines, cancer fighting supplements and the power of her mind to tell her body to heal. The doctors told her she would be a lucky girl if she lived past the year – that was twenty years ago. They also told her it was unlikely that she would ever have children as they removed her right ovary and most of my left. With the aid of nature’s medicines, she proved traditional medicine wrong and Katrina conceived naturally giving birth to a beautiful boy and girl. Dr. Taufiq Binjemain graduated from the University of Leeds, UK in 2000. The Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) is a Non-Profit, Health Promotion Charity Mark and his wife began in 2014, after he was diagnosed with brain cancer. They began the Foundation when they realised how underfunded brain cancer was in Australia. The lack of funding meant very little research into treatments or cures for brain cancer and, as a result, not much has changed in the shocking brain cancer mortality rates over the past 30 years.
In 2014 their first fundraiser kicked off, Beanie for Brain Cancer Campaign. Since then, they’ve grown from selling a few hundred beanies locally to joining forces with the National Rugby League to create an annual Beanie for Brain Cancer Round.
