What are the benefits of near and far infrared saunas?
NEAR INFRARED & IMMUNITY & HEALING
Near Infrared penetrates deeper and can help to strengthen the cardiovascular system, it can help with reduction in the risk of memory diseases and encourages a more efficient immune system. Near Infrared heat can also assist with wound healing, and it increases blood flow and oxygenation of the tissues.
NEAR INFRARED & BEAUTY
Near Infrared helps to stimulate collagen turnover thereby helping to rebuild and beautify the skin. Near infrared can do this as it can penetrate deep within the skin where wrinkles and many skin issues occur.
NEAR INFRARED & DETOXIFICATION
Near Infrared heat detoxifies the body of toxins and heavy metals by elimination of these substances through the body’s sweat. Sweat is often the most effective means of elimination of these substances and there’s no better way than in a comfortable home sauna to relax in and sweat it out!
NEAR INFRARED & WEIGHT LOSS
Each infrared sauna session encourages the body to burn calories facilitating weight loss, increasing metabolism and energy. An infrared sauna session can often offer similar benefits to a moderate jog without the risk of injury.
NEAR INFRARED & PAIN RELIEF
Near infrared in the form of red heat ray lamps have been used for many years to offer pain relief to sufferers of arthritis, joint and muscle pain. Our saunas utilise a similar energy offering the same pain relief benefits. Our near infrared saunas encourage relief of stress, releases muscle tension and therefore relieves pain in joints & muscles.
Near infrared saunas have gained popularity in recent years due to their potential health benefits. Research suggests that these saunas may help alleviate pain and inflammation, improve circulation, promote skin health, aid in wound healing, support detoxification, boost the immune system, and induce relaxation and stress relief. Near Infrared saunas have been shown to stimulate collagen and elastin production, increase blood flow and lymphatic flow, and promote white blood cell production, among other effects. With their many potential health benefits, Near Infrared saunas are a promising therapy for a range of conditions and are used in the fields of physical therapy, sports medicine, and anti-aging treatments.
Can your infrared saunas be used outdoors?
Our saunas are designed for exclusive indoor use. They can be conveniently installed in sheltered spaces, such as balconies or patios, provided they are protected from water exposure to safeguard the sauna’s electrical components. It’s worth noting that prolonged sun exposure could potentially impact the timber’s durability over time.
What are the EMF levels of your infrared saunas?
EMF stands for “electromagnetic field.” Electromagnetic fields are produced by electrically charged objects and are what allows us to use technologies such as televisions, computers and radios. EMFs are almost always present in our environment, as we highly rely on digital devices and modern technology in our daily lives.
There are no components in our infrared saunas that produce high levels of EMFs. EMF is measured in milligauss (mg). The levels of EMFs produced by our infrared saunas have been measured at approximately 2mG, which is significantly below the unsafe levels deemed to be 10mG.
How long do your infrared saunas take to heat up?
Our standard far infrared saunas require only 10 to 15 minutes to heat up, before beginning your session. In contrast, our premium sauna models, that include additional near infrared heaters, deliver an instantaneous warmth. This is because, near infrared directly heats the body rather than just the air around you. It is advisable to turn on your sauna a few minutes prior to commencing your session for an optimal experience.
Should I shower after an infrared sauna session?
Prior to leaving the sauna, it is advisable to gently cleanse the sweat from your skin’s surface. During your sauna session, your body’s innate cooling mechanism becomes active, leading to a substantial release of sweat. This physiological process facilitates the elimination of heavy metals and environmental toxins, enabling a profound detoxification experience. To prevent the re-absorption of these toxins as your body cools down, it is best to cleanse them away from your skin’s surface before exiting the sauna. Allow your body to naturally cool down or indulge in a refreshing shower. Additionally, incorporating a revitalising exfoliation ritual will leave your skin feeling luxuriously smooth.
Are your infrared saunas made with any chemicals?
Our infrared saunas are thoughtfully crafted to support your health journey and are made free of harmful chemicals. Only water-based adhesives are used. The interior timber of the sauna is raw, unsealed Canadian hemlock. Enjoy a completely natural and healthy sauna experience, without worries!
What is near infrared heat?
Near infrared heat is not offered in most standard infrared saunas on the market. Near infrared heat is visible to the human eye, unlike far infrared heat. Near infrared heat utilises shorter wavelengths ranging from 0.7 to 3 microns. These types of light waves present as a red, orange glow, just like you see radiating from a campfire.
Near infrared heat directly heats the body (rather than just the air around you) and is able to penetrate 15 to 20 cm into your body — reaching muscles, tissues and organs.
Our near infrared heaters have been designed at a specific wavelength for maximum benefit — supercharging our premium saunas with additional benefits, you can’t find in a standard sauna.
When near far heat and light penetrate deep into the tissues, they trigger remarkable metabolic healing effects. This process stimulates the body to produce heat shock proteins, which help counteract oxidative stress by scavenging free radicals and supporting antioxidant production.
What is far infrared heat?
Far infrared heat is the most common and energy efficient form of heating offered by sauna companies. It is generated via carbon panel or ceramic heaters. Far infrared heat does not directly heat the body, but rather heats the air of the sauna. This creates a gentle and comfortable heat that is perfect for deep sweating and detoxification. It can also offer health benefits of improved circulation, pain relief, relaxation, enhanced immune function and improved sleep.
How much do your infrared saunas cost to run in electricity?
Our infrared sauna models run at 2kW/hr. Electricity costs approximately 25 cents per kW/hr, meaning that our infrared saunas cost about 50c per hour to run — they are extremely cost-effective!
Why is my infrared sauna temperature higher than the thermostat?
We have recently adjusted the design of our near and far infrared saunas, so that once the set temperature is reached, the red glowing near infrared heaters stay on. This is important for many of our clients who are on health journeys and require the benefits this specific wavelength of heat offers, although this does contribute to an increase in air temperature especially on warmer days.
Near infrared heats water not air and penetrates through the skin, directly heating the body, so it is your internal body temperature that is more important in this case. You will still be receiving maximum benefit from your infrared sauna sessions, when you allow cool air into the sauna to maintain your desired air temperature.

Our Entire Range Runs on a 10-Amp Circuit. No Costly Home Upgrades.
Every Hyper Wellbeing sauna plugs into a standard household power point. No electrician, no dedicated circuit, no switchboard work, no landlord conversation.
Plenty of home saunas sold in Australia need a 15 to 25 amp dedicated circuit. That is an electrician callout and several hundred dollars on top of the purchase price, and for renters it usually rules the sauna out completely. Ask for the amp draw in writing before you buy anything, from anyone.
Heats in 10 to 15 Minutes. Under 50 Cents an Hour to Run.
PureWave™ heaters were engineered from the ground up by an Australian engineer rather than sourced off the shelf. They reach operating temperature in 10 to 15 minutes, where many systems take 20 to 35, and they deliver more of that energy into the body instead of into the air around it.
That efficiency is also what keeps every model in the range on a standard power point.
On four 45-minute sessions a week, running cost works out to roughly $1.50 a week in electricity. Commercial infrared sessions in Australian capitals typically run $40 to $60 each. At that frequency, the sauna covers its own cost inside a year, before counting the drive.
Clean Air, Built In
Every Hyper Wellbeing sauna has a PureAir Ioniser and ozone built into the system, running as standard rather than sold as an accessory.
A sauna is a warm, sealed, timber-lined space used several times a week. Active air purification inside the sauna handles what surface cleaning cannot reach, so the air stays clean during the session, not just between them. Very few home saunas at any price include it.
